   There once was a young man who went to his girlfriend’s house and said to her father, “Sir, may I ask your permission to marry your daughter?”

    And the father said,”No way. There’s no way my daughter is going to marry an actor. That’s final!”

    But the boy begged him, “Please,before you make a final decision,would you at least go to see me perform tonight and then decide?”

    So the father said, “OK, fair enough.”

    So that evening the father took his daughter to the theater to see the young man perform, and after the performance, he took his daughter backstage into the young man’s dressing room and said, “OK, you can marry my daughter, no problem.”

    The young man was beside himself and so happy that he said,”Yes, sir, but why?”

    And the father said, “Because you’re no actor.”
